Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood located in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" area. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of diverse communities. People who have never heard of it often confuse it with an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. She aspired to be a professional dancer but due to a rapid expansion, she surpassed all of her dancing partners. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. Many former dancers turn to acting and in Brugel's case it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school that led her in the right direction. The teacher recommended that she take part in an audition for the annual school play. The teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual production. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, she's appeared involved in more than 60 shows, big and small. The most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast during Season 1 of the series and only seen occasionally.
